Luxor is split by the river. The East Bank holds Karnak and Luxor Temple, where the living city was. The West Bank holds the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut’s temple, where the dead were.
Most visitors give each bank a day. These tours cover both, and the longer ones reach further out to Dendera, Abydos, or south to Edfu and Kom Ombo.

Common questions
Which bank first?
The West Bank in the morning, while it is cooler, then the East Bank later. The tombs are the hardest work.
How many tombs can I enter?
The standard Valley of the Kings ticket covers three tombs. Tutankhamun’s is ticketed separately.
Is a balloon ride included?
No, that is booked separately. It runs at sunrise over the West Bank.
